Free Textiles & Tall Tales Workshops with artist Holly Graham as part of the new 422 Community Archive

We are seeking individuals with local connections to Longsight, Ardwick, and surrounding areas in Manchester to join a series of free textile block printing, patchwork, and storytelling workshops (including an exclusive visit to Platt Hall's textile collection) with artist Holly Graham.

Together, participants will contribute to a new community archive artwork, showcasing relationships people have with the patterns, clothes, and clothing they wear and live with.

Participation in the project requires committing to a series of three practical creative workshop sessions between January – March 2024:

  • Block Printing on Fabric - Wed 17th Jan, 1-3 pm at 422 Community Hub

  • Patchworks & Story-telling - Wed 14th Feb, 11 am-1 pm at Platt Hall

  • Patchwork Celebration Tea - Wed 20th Mar, 1-3 pm, at 422 Community Hub

Sessions will be audio recorded, with participants invited to contribute to a new digital oral history archive to be held by 422 Arts. Individuals will each receive a limited edition artwork produced as an outcome of the project. Learn more about the new 422 Community Archive here!

* No previous experience is needed

** Our capacity is limited, so please only register if you can attend all sessions
